Zelenskyy announces new prisoner exchange with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that a new prisoner exchange agreement was reached with Russia during negotiations in Istanbul.
He stated that the exchange will involve 1,200 people, and work is currently underway to finalize the lists.
The announcement was made on Sunday, August 3, via his Telegram channel. In the post, Zelenskyy mentioned that he had discussed the ongoing negotiations and preparations for a new round of talks with Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, and Andriy Yermak, Head of the Presidential Office.
Zelenskyy added, "We are also working to unblock the process of returning our civilians by analyzing each case individually."
According to the Kyiv leader, Rustem Umerov reported on direct communication with Russian representatives, while Andriy Yermak provided details on cooperation with international partners, including the United States, and on efforts to repatriate abducted children taken to Russia.
This follows a prior prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine in early July. At that time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy specified that "most of them had been in Russian captivity since 2022."
