The National Reunification Platform announced it will participate in the September 28 parliamentary elections as part of the National Unity Bloc.

The decision was made today at the platform's second congress, which was held at Chișinău's Unirii Hall. According to representatives, the electoral bloc brings together political parties and civil society members who support the country's European path through the reunification of the Republic of Moldova with Romania.

The National Unity Bloc is expected to submit its registration documents for the parliamentary elections next week.

"The main goal of this effort is to form a robust, pro-reunification force in the next Parliament to strengthen the European path of the Republic of Moldova, and this must be a step toward Romanian national reunification," says Anatol Țăranu, a member of the National Reunification Platform.

"We also expect other parties we have previously spoken with to join the National Reunification Platform," said Mihai Severovan, leader of the National Liberal Party of Moldova.

"Our bloc isn't political-social; it's a social-political one. Out of every ten people on the electoral list, six are from civil society—from the people. It is a popular electoral list," said Valentin Dolganiuc, leader of the National Reunification Party.

"Through this bloc, the National Reunification Platform has convened and formed within its core two parties. The platform gives these parties the mandate—the will of the people expressed here—for them to present and register their list of deputies, and we will work together to have representatives," said Alexandru Arseni, president of the Independence Parliament Association.

Also today, at the congress, the list of candidates for the deputy position was approved and will be submitted next week to the Central Electoral Commission.
