The new Customs Code of the Republic of Moldova will enter into force on January 1, 2024

The Parliament adopted in the final reading the law on amending some normative acts, approving the Government's proposal to extend the entry into force of the provisions of the new Customs Code. The postponement of the term was necessary to ensure the continuity of the harmonization of the legislation of the Republic of Moldova with that of the European Union. Also, the opinion of the business environment was taken into account, and the new Customs Code of the Republic of Moldova will enter into force on January 1, 2024.

According to the Legislative, the draft law aims to adjust some customs duties on the import of some goods according to the Combined Nomenclature of goods, which will encourage the business environment to carry out its entrepreneurial activity in the Republic of Moldova. The aim of the project is to improve the legal framework for the uniform application of some rules throughout the country and to bring clarity to some fiscal and customs aspects.
