The Communist Party (PCRM) wants to join the "Patriotic Bloc of Socialists, Heart, and Future of Moldova" electoral bloc, but with certain conditions.

The decision was approved on Monday, August 4, during a meeting of the PCRM Central Committee.

"The current composition of the Bloc, as registered by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), does not meet the expectations of voters who would like to see the PCRM included, in order to mobilize the full potential of the left-wing and center-left electorate," the PCRM argues.

Participants at the Central Committee meeting noted that the PCRM, together with the Socialist Party (PSRM), the "Heart of Moldova" Republican Party, and the Party for the Future of Moldova, "initiated" the formation of this bloc and "actively participated" in negotiations for its creation.

"The Plenum of the Central Committee of the PCRM has decided to submit a proposal to the three parties regarding the Communist Party's accession to the bloc. In addition, the Plenum of the Central Committee proposed amending the bloc's founding treaty to include the Communist Party as a founder and changing the name of the bloc to reflect the parties' real composition. It is also necessary to change the bloc's symbols by including new elements that reflect the core of the treaty's amendments regarding the creation of the bloc," are the communists' demands.

It's worth noting that initially, the leaders of the four parties—Igor Dodon, Irina Vlah, Vasile Tarlev, and Vladimir Voronin—had announced the creation of the electoral bloc to participate on a common list in the parliamentary elections on September 28.

Subsequently, the bloc was registered with only three parties, without the communists, who had submitted their documents to the CEC for the electoral race.

At the time, the leader of the socialists, Igor Dodon, declined to explain the absence of the communists but noted that any party that wished could join the new political entity, including the one led by Vladimir Voronin.

The "Patriotic Bloc of Socialists, Heart, and Future of Moldova" electoral bloc was registered on Sunday, August 3, to participate in the elections.
