Energy Minister: Russian strike on Ukraine gas sites didn't impact Moldova's supply.

During a government meeting on Wednesday, August 6, Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu announced that the recent Russian attack on gas infrastructure in the Orlivka region of Ukraine had no impact on the natural gas supply to the Republic of Moldova, including the left bank of the Nistru.

According to the minister, the Republic of Moldova currently imports natural gas solely through the Iași - Ungheni - Chișinău gas pipeline.

"Russia's brutal war against Ukraine continues to impact people mercilessly. However, the gas supply to the Republic of Moldova is unaffected. This further demonstrates that the Republic of Moldova is heading in the right direction—towards the European Union, where there is peace and prosperity," stated Junghietu.

We remind you that last night, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure in the Reni, Orlivka, and Chilia regions, which are located close to the border with Romania.

The explosions caused by the attack were visible from Romanian territory. Radar systems operated by the Romanian Ministry of Defense detected aerial targets in Ukrainian airspace near Tulcea. Two aircraft were deployed in response, according to the institution's spokesman, Corneliu Pavel.

Several calls to the emergency hotline 112 reported fires in the municipality of Tulcea and near Isaccea.

Meanwhile, Russian attacks in the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine have resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to ten others, including four children, as reported today by Governor Ivan Fedorov.
