Defense Minister, new U.S. diplomat in Chișinău discuss National Army modernization

The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, and Nick Pietrowicz, the Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, who has recently begun his mandate, discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation in defense. They also addressed the joint projects being implemented to modernize the National Army.
The meeting occurred on Thursday, August 7, at the Ministry of Defense.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening their strategic partnership to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The US Embassy in Chisinau stated that the meeting was part of the ongoing collaboration between the Republic of Moldova and the US state of North Carolina, a significant partnership focused on modernizing Moldova's defense system.
Minister Nosatîi congratulated Nick Pietrowicz on his recent appointment, wishing him success in his diplomatic role in our country.
The officials reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in defense matters.
We remind you that Nick Pietrowicz recently began his role as Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova. He previously served as a regional security officer at the US Embassy in Chisinau from 2008 to 2011.
A year ago, the National Army received assistance from the US Government, delivered during the "Peace Shield" exercise. This exercise, which has been ongoing since 2009, aims to evaluate the operational capabilities of the National Army under the Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC), which is a requirement for participation in international peacekeeping operations.
In 2023, the National Army received additional assistance from the US Government, valued at over $3 million.
