Ballon d’Or 2024: Dembélé, Yamal headline 30-man shortlist

The list of 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or has been announced. Ousmane Dembélé and Lamine Yamal are among the top contenders, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has the most nominated players, with nine.

Journalists from France Football, in collaboration with L'Équipe, have compiled a list of 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or. Ousmane Dembélé, the superstar from PSG, is a natural inclusion. He scored 35 goals and provided 16 assists in all competitions last season, helping his team secure the domestic title, the French Cup, and the Champions League trophy.

In total, nine PSG players are on the list of Ballon d'Or nominees. Among them are Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Lamine Yamal, FC Barcelona's immense talent, is also a nominee for the most coveted individual trophy in world football. The Spaniard scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists for Barca last season and reached the Nations League final with his national team.

Champions League finalist Inter Milan has only two players on the list: Denzel Dumfries and Lautaro Martínez. Meanwhile, Chelsea, winners of the Club World Cup, has just one player on the list: Cole Palmer.

The name of this year's Ballon d'Or winner will be announced on September 22 at a ceremony at Le Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
