Romanian President Nicușor Dan is currently on a private visit to the Republic of Moldova. This weekend, he participated in two traditional festivals alongside President Maia Sandu: the Zemii (Moldovan chicken soup) Festival in Sipoteni, in Călărași district, and the Lupilor Festival in the "Orheiul Vechi" Natural Reserve.

The events brought together participants from both sides of the Prut showcasing local traditions, gastronomy, and hospitality.

"We ate a lot... This year, we decided to visit Romania and Bessarabia. It is important to get to know each other better. I thank the President for taking me to interesting places," Nicușor Dan shared with a local TV channel.

Maia Sandu expressed her happiness about her counterpart's visit and emphasized the importance of developing infrastructure between the two countries to enhance cultural and tourist connections.

"We have several events planned in various localities. I am pleased that President Nicușor Dan chose to spend several days here to meet Moldovans and taste our cuisine. That is why we must work diligently to build the highway as quickly as possible so we can reach each other more easily," Maia Sandu highlighted.

When asked about Romania's support regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, Nicușor Dan confirmed that Bucharest would continue to support Chișinău on its European path.

"We respect the right of citizens to determine their future. We can assist the Republic of Moldova; there are already teams in place—not only in Romania but also in Western Europe—helping with security and cybernetics. This is our contribution. Furthermore, I hope that the choices made by the citizens here will lean towards a European direction. I respect their vote, and regardless of the outcome, Romania will continue to provide support," Nicușor Dan declared.

The visit included a stop at the church in the village of Ghidighici, where the two officials were welcomed by priest Maxim Melinti. He presented the community's projects and referred to the moment as "a historic visit" for the parish.

"I offered the distinguished guests a brief presentation of our community's activities, including our catechetical, charitable, and social projects, the construction of the 'Transfiguration of the Lord' church, and the 'Island of Happiness' Social Center," the priest wrote in a Facebook post.

Nicușor Dan arrived in the Republic of Moldova accompanied by his family. The President of Romania published on his Facebook account images from a nature hike with his wife, two children, and President Maia Sandu.

On Saturday, Nicușor Dan participated, together with Maia Sandu, at the Lupilor Festival in the "Orheiul Vechi" Reservation.

This is Nicușor Dan's third visit to the Republic of Moldova this year, after those in June and March.
