Joy for Zăbriceni's children: The Story Festival, organized by a woman in France, is celebrating its third edition

Every summer, children from the village of Zăbriceni in the Edineț district participate in a festival organized specifically for them. The idea was conceived by Daniela Mastacan, a native of Zăbriceni who has been living in France for over 15 years. This year marks the festival's third edition. During the event, the children enjoyed a performance presented by the "Veniamin Apostol" Theater from Soroca.
The Story Festival lasted for three days, during which the children participated in various workshops. They were impressed by a performance staged by the artists of the "Veniamin Apostol" Theater from Soroca. For some children, this was their first experience attending a theater performance.
"I attended the Story Festival last year, and I returned this year. I really liked the actors and the stories," one child said.
"I really enjoyed Guguță. He is a very playful boy and eager for adventures," another added.
Children from Zăbriceni, like those from other rural areas, rarely have the opportunity to go to the theater.
"As parents, we still take them to the city, but less often. Thank you very much for this project. Even for us, the parents, it was interesting. We were children too, and we grew up with these stories. It's very pleasant," said a parent.
The festival is organized by Daniela Mastacan, who grew up in the village of Zăbriceni and has been living in France for 15 years.
"I believe that the tradition of storytelling has been lost in Moldova. When I was a child, my grandfather told me many stories he had heard from others. The important thing is that the festival continues. I want people to know that the Story Festival is being organized in the north of the country," says Daniela Mastacan, the organizer.
Other residents of Zăbriceni, who moved abroad many years ago, are also involved in organizing the festival.
"What we do is very important for our children; it is essential to pass on the traditions we have. I always return home with love. My children speak two languages, but they know our Moldovan stories," shared one of the residents.
The commune of Zăbriceni has approximately 2,100 inhabitants.
