Only 1,000 places remain available in colleges and centers of excellence in the Republic of Moldova, announced the Ministry of Education and Research (MER) after the first round of the admission process concluded on August 10.

The most sought-after fields were IT, Medicine, and Education.

"During this period, over 10,000 applications were submitted to the 35 colleges and 13 centers of excellence," the MER specified.

Candidate registration was done exclusively through the e-Admitere module within the Education Management Information System for vocational and technical education.

Of the total applications, 386 were for dual education professional training programs.

"Interest in some fields was high, with two to three students competing for each place in certain specialties. Among the most popular programs are: Programming and Product Testing, Web Application Development, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Primary Education, Early Childhood Education, Accounting, Finance and Banking, and Architecture," the MER noted.

The second round of the admission contest will take place from August 13-20, and the results will be posted between August 25 and 26.

The MER also reminds that the first round of admissions for vocational schools concludes on Sunday, August 17.

According to Silviu Gîncu, Head of the Vocational and Technical Education Policy Department at the Ministry of Education and Research, this academic year offers over 12,000 state-funded places in centers of excellence, colleges, and vocational schools. Of these, 2,134 places are reserved for dual education.
