Gianluigi Donnarumma has announced his departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The Italian goalkeeper posted a heartfelt message thanking the club's supporters and his teammates. According to French media reports, Donnarumma has agreed to a transfer to Manchester City after speaking with "the Citizens'" coach, Pep Guardiola. The English club will pay a fee of €30 million.

"From my first day here, I gave my all—on and off the pitch—to earn my spot and defend the goal for Paris Saint-Germain. Unfortunately, someone decided I could no longer be part of the squad or contribute to the team's success. I am disappointed and heartbroken. Thank you for every battle, every smile, and every moment we shared. You’ll always be my brothers. Playing for this club and living in this city has been a huge honor. Thank you, Paris," Donnarumma wrote.

With Gianluigi Donnarumma in the final year of his contract, PSG decided to sell him now rather than lose him for free next summer. The European champions have already signed his replacement, Lucas Chevalier.

"Sometimes we have to make difficult decisions. If they were easy, anyone could make them. This choice is about the profile of the goalkeeper my team needs. Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and a great guy, but that's our job," said coach Luis Enrique.

"Gigio made club history, and I'm very proud of that. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts. If he stays, we will welcome him back with open arms because he had an extraordinary season. If he has to leave, we'll thank him as well because he's a great friend and a great leader," emphasized the Parisian team's captain, the Brazilian Marquinhos.
