Two men get years in prison for escape attempt from Penitentiary No. 15, Cricova

Two inmates, aged 24 and 27, who attempted to escape from Penitentiary No. 15 in Cricova, will face extended prison sentences. Both individuals, who were already serving sentences for murder and other crimes, were sentenced to an additional two years each for their escape attempt.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, two convicts attempted to escape from the penitentiary institution on the night of October 30, 2023. They tried to illegally leave by climbing over the preventive fence that separates the production area from the prohibited area in sector no. 3.
The attempt was noticed by the staff on duty, who were able to detain the convicts before they could execute their plan.
As a result of court proceedings, one of the defendants, who originally had 13 years and 6 months remaining in his sentence, will now serve a total of 15 years in prison. The other defendant, who was previously sentenced to 24 years, will now serve 25 years and 6 months. This information was provided in a statement from the Prosecutor General's Office.
Both convicts pleaded guilty to the charges.
