Program supporting young employees in strategic fields with 3,000 lei, started

Young people in the Republic of Moldova who are participating for the first time in seven strategic sectors will receive a non-taxable monthly allowance of 3,000 lei for 12 months. This initiative, launched by the authorities on Thursday, August 14, aims to attract young workers to key areas of the economy.

The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Doina Nistor, stated at the launch event of a new program that financial support will help attract young people to the labor market and boost innovation, especially since starting salaries in these industries are often modest. She emphasized that by supporting young individuals at the beginning of their careers in high-value sectors, the foundation for a competitive economy integrated into the European single market is established. This initiative also provides additional motivation for specialists to build their careers in the Republic of Moldova.

"I discussed with companies not only from Chisinau but from across the country. Many of these companies are bringing in new technologies and making investments in automation, as well as in new processes. For instance, in the agri-food sector, new recipes are being developed. We need this infusion of young talent. This program is absolutely strategic for accelerating the national economy. My colleagues confirmed that the initial accounts for young people have already been synchronized—everything is 100% digital," said Deputy Prime Minister Doina Nistor.

The Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, highlighted the importance of the program that provides employers with incentives to give young people a chance. He noted that after a year, companies will benefit from better-prepared and more experienced employees. Additionally, this investment in youth will result in a workforce that is better equipped to adapt to digital and demographic changes, Buzu added.

He emphasized that investments in young people will continue, with support from the European Union. "We will certainly need to maintain our momentum. The Economic Growth Plan will enable us to invest even more, expand the network of model schools, enhance dual education at both the university and college levels, and increase the number of kindergartens and nurseries to meet European standards. Starting next year, we will double our investments in vocational training, workplace adaptation, and employment subsidies. We will also invest more in mobility programs. These initiatives will cater to the needs of both our youth and employers," Alexei Buzu stated.

To qualify for the monthly allowance of 3,000 lei, applicants must be up to 35 years old, employed with a full-time contract, and hold at least a Level III qualification, equivalent to a college degree.

Support will be exclusively provided to young people working in the following industries: electronics, machine building, textiles, agri-food, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and creative industries.

The registration and eligibility verification process is fully digitalized and is conducted through the government application Evo.

According to a recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics, only four out of ten young people in the Republic of Moldova were employed last year. The same report indicates that approximately 6% of employed young people work in education, and one in five young individuals has an informal job.
