81-year-old woman killed with an axe by jealous partner; man receives sentence
A 71-year-old man from Chisinau could spend the next 20 years in prison after killing his 81-year-old concubine. He split the victim's head open with an axe after seeing a man leaving their apartment.
The crime was committed in December 2024, and the Chisinau Court based in Buiucani, found the old man guilty of murdering with particular cruelty.
"In December 2024, while in the apartment in the Centru sector of Chisinau, where he lived with the victim, the defendant, driven by jealousy, inflicted multiple blows with an axe on her head and chest, causing her death. According to the forensic report, the 81-year-old woman's death occurred as a result of split and penetrating wounds to the head, hemorrhages and other injuries," prosecutors say.
The man admitted his guilt and told law enforcement officers that he resorted to this gesture after he allegedly noticed, on the night of the crime, a man leaving the apartment while he was returning from work.
The sentence is not final.
