Around 90 projects will modernize local infrastructure in Moldova, with 3 billion lei in investments

In the coming two years, numerous villages and towns in the Republic of Moldova will receive significant investments in infrastructure, drinking water supply, sanitation, tourism, and business development.
On August 15, the National Coordination Council for Regional and Local Development approved the results of the Competitive Call for the Selection of Regional Development Projects for the 2024 edition. This announcement was made by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolea.
According to the minister, out of the 205 proposals submitted by mayors and district councils, 87 projects from all five regions of the country—North, Center, South, ATO Gagauzia, and Chisinau municipality—were selected for funding.
These projects will be implemented between 2025 and 2027, with financing coming from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL).
The total requested cost exceeds 3 billion lei; however, estimates from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development suggest that this could decrease to about 2.5 billion lei following the tender processes.
Minister Bolea further detailed the distribution of investments. Most projects—47 in total—will focus on expanding drinking water and sewage networks. Additionally, 19 projects will aim to enhance tourist attractiveness, 15 will target urban revitalization and modernization of public spaces, and 6 will support the development of business infrastructure.
While funding targets 87 projects, the overall impact will be felt at the regional level, improving the lives of thousands of citizens across numerous localities in the country, the minister said.
