Eurovision: Vienna to host 2026 song contest

Vienna will host the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, Austrian public broadcaster ORF announced on Wednesday, 20 August. The Austrian capital beat out Innsbruck to win the bid, according to reports by DW.

ORF Director-General Roland Weissmann said both Vienna and Innsbruck had presented attractive bids. In a statement, he said Vienna's offer was "the most advantageous" after a "thorough analysis" by the jury.

The semi-finals will be held on 12 and 14 May, with the final on 16 May, at the Wiener Stadthalle arena.

The contest is traditionally hosted by the winning country from the previous year. In 2025, Austrian performer JJ (Johannes Pich) won in Basel, Switzerland, with the song "Wasted Love". The 24-year-old’s victory was a surprise, as Sweden's representatives—the Finnish band KAJ—had been considered the favourites.

Vienna previously hosted the contest in 1967 and 2015, following wins by Udo Jürgens and Thomas Neuwirth, better known as his female alter ego Conchita Wurst.
