Moldova gets $2.1m grant to boost healthcare services

Moldova will receive a $2.1m grant to improve medical rehabilitation services, it has been announced. The funds are for prevention and rehabilitation for patients at high risk of cardiovascular diseases, including strokes and heart attacks.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a Grant Agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). The project will also see the development of national protocols for non-communicable diseases, alongside training for multidisciplinary healthcare teams. It will also expand digital health programs and public information campaigns. A system to monitor patient recovery after a stroke or cardiac condition will also be strengthened.

"We've secured a grant to help improve medical prevention and rehabilitation services in the country," Health Minister Ala Nemerenco said.

The project aims to strengthen services for patients at high risk of cardiovascular diseases, as well as strokes and heart attacks. The planned interventions will help improve patients' quality of life and prevent these diseases.

The grant is effective on signing and will be implemented until September 2028.
