Trump on Ukraine peace talks: 'We will know in two weeks'

Donald Trump is aiming to bring the Russian and Ukrainian presidents together, and on Thursday, he said he would know more about the prospects for peace in Ukraine "in the next two weeks."

During a phone interview with host Todd Starnes, Mr. Trump stated, "In the next two weeks, we're going to know one way or another. After that, we may have to take a different course of action."

The US President had previously promised during his campaign last year that he would restore peace to Ukraine, more than three years after Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Mr. Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a military base in Alaska on August 16. On Monday, he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, alongside several European leaders.

Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine on Wednesday night into Thursday, using 574 drones and 40 missiles, a record number since mid-July, according to the Ukrainian air force.
