US Vice President J.D. Vance: Ukraine war could end in six months

Speaking in an interview with US broadcaster NBC, J.D. Vance, the country’s Vice President, said he was optimistic that Russia's war in Ukraine could be over within six months.
The remarks, which were quoted by European Pravda, were part of a broader discussion on the administration's efforts to broker a peace deal.
Mr Vance praised President Donald Trump's "energetic diplomacy," saying the president was "actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to try and stop the bloodshed."
"Whether the war ends in three months or six months - I hope no more than that - we should be proud to have a president who's trying to put an end to the killing," he said.
He acknowledged that the negotiation process had its "ups and downs," with periods of significant progress followed by disappointment. The vice president added that an end to the war would ultimately depend on Russia and Ukraine's ability to reach a compromise.
Meanwhile, Western countries have restarted discussions on providing security guarantees for Ukraine. According to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the guarantees will have two tiers. European officials are also debating a plan that could see British and French troops sent to Ukraine as part of a potential peace agreement. Approximately ten countries have reportedly offered to contribute troops.
