Zelenskyy's team to meet Trump officials in New York for Russia peace talks

Members of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's team are to meet representatives of the Donald Trump administration in New York on Friday, 29 August, in an attempt to find a solution to the war with Russia, according to AFP.
"Meetings will take place on Friday in New York, in the US, with President Trump's team," following "meetings in Switzerland" on Thursday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his daily address posted on social media, Agerpres reports.
Earlier, Donald Trump's envoy to the Russia negotiations, Steve Witkoff, told the US press he would meet with Ukrainian representatives this week.
President Zelenskyy said his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, and former Defence Minister Rustem Umerov "participated in meetings in Qatar" to discuss "mediation" in the conflict in Ukraine.
"Meetings were also held in Saudi Arabia," Zelenskyy added.
US President Donald Trump's recent efforts to broker a deal, including meetings with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska and with Mr Zelenskyy and several European leaders in Washington, have not produced significant results.
For peace to be accepted, Moscow continues to demand that Ukraine give up its Nato membership and cede territories, demands firmly rejected by Kyiv.
