VIDEO // Private school raided for millions in tax evasion
The management of a private educational institution is under investigation by tax inspectors and prosecutors for allegedly causing over 11 million lei in harm to the state budget.
Five days before the start of the school year, officers from the General Anti-Fraud Directorate of the State Fiscal Service (SFS) and employees of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) conducted searches at a targeted institution. This action was part of a criminal case initiated in May 2025 by the PCCOCS concerning tax evasion.
During the searches, law enforcement seized various items, including accounting documents, bank cards, draft documents, a laptop, an iPad, a mobile phone, and cash totaling 1,260,000 lei, 41,665 euros, and 6,970 US dollars.
Investigations are ongoing, with law enforcement agencies aiming to recover the damages caused to the state budget and to hold those involved in the crime accountable.
