Moldova a priority at European Parliament’s first autumn session

The Republic of Moldova will be the focus of the first plenary session of the European Parliament this autumn, scheduled for next week in Strasbourg. This announcement was made by Romanian MEP Siegfried Mureșan, who is the EPP Vice-President and co-rapporteur for the European Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova.

According to him, the session's agenda includes three key points focused on the Republic of Moldova. "First, we will negotiate and vote on a resolution that I co-initiated, which reiterates the European Parliament's support for Moldova's accession process. At the same time, we will advocate for increased European support for the Republic of Moldova in light of threats from the Russian Federation," said Mureșan.

The second point will involve a plenary debate on the main elements of the resolution, covering topics such as Moldova’s European integration, support against Russian aggression, and financial assistance from European funds.

The third item on the MEPs' agenda will be a speech by Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova, scheduled for Tuesday at noon in the plenary session of the European Parliament.

"It is important for the people of the Republic of Moldova to see that they are, and will continue to be, a priority for the European Parliament and the European Union," Mureșan said.
