Ciochină case: Review of prosecution’s video evidence nearly complete

A new hearing is taking place in the case of Nicanor Ciochină, the former mayor of Boldurești commune, who is accused of fatally injuring a 14-year-old boy in February 2024. The magistrates continue to examine the video evidence presented by the prosecutors. The prosecution claims to have reconstructed the route that Ciochină took on the day of the alleged accident. However, Ciochină denies all the charges against him.

Several pieces of video evidence were analyzed during the hearing. According to prosecutors, the footage shows the company car belonging to Nicanor Ciochină, who was the mayor of Boldurești commune at the time of the alleged accident. Prosecutors assert that they have traced the route Nicanor Ciochină took prior to hitting a 14-year-old teenager with his car. The defendant denies the accusations and continues to plead not guilty.
"The reviewed video footage once again proves my innocence, as it shows that at the time of the accident, the city hall car was in Nisporeni," says Nicanor Ciochină. "When I learned that the police had come to my house, I called them myself; I was not detained but chose to surrender."

The prosecutor in charge stated that the review of the video evidence presented by the prosecution is almost complete.
"The material evidence, including video recordings and examination notes on the objects, has been further analyzed, and tomorrow we will examine the corpus delicti," said Prosecutor Alexandru Botnari.

Nicanor Ciochină, the former mayor of Boldurești commune, is facing charges for fatally injuring a 14-year-old teenager on February 19, 2024, and subsequently fleeing the scene of the accident. Prosecutors allege that Ciochină attempted to mislead the investigation.
