Chisinau signs memorandum on Israeli tech for Moldovan agriculture

A memorandum was signed on Wednesday in Chisinau to enhance the productivity and quality of Moldovan wheat through technology transfer and collaborative efforts between experts and researchers from the Republic of Moldova and Israel. The agreement was co-signed by Ina Butucel, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Avi Dichter, the Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, who is currently visiting Moldova.
The memorandum signed between the two countries establishes conditions for developing joint projects, sharing knowledge, and implementing advanced agricultural practices, according to Ina Butucel, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. She emphasized the significance of this agreement for the future of agriculture in the country.
"This memorandum serves as a framework that provides new opportunities for the development of modern agriculture in the Republic of Moldova. Israel is expected to share technologies and knowledge on how to enhance agricultural performance in extremely challenging climatic conditions. As an agrarian nation, we need to gather a wealth of knowledge, technologies, and sustainable practices to create an efficient, resilient, and modern agricultural sector that meets the needs of our population," said Ina Butucel.
The signing of this memorandum marks a new level of cooperative relations between the two nations, highlighted Avi Dichter, the Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. He noted that both countries have much to learn from each other.
"It is a great honor to sign this memorandum of intent, which signifies the beginning of a collaboration that will translate into concrete actions by the delegation of the Republic of Moldova in Israel. Your territory is three times larger than ours, and your population is three times smaller. This presents an excellent opportunity for mutual learning. I am confident that together we will develop agricultural practices that will benefit both the Republic of Moldova and Israel," emphasized Minister Dichter.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, a specific section of the memorandum addresses the wheat trade. The document outlines the creation of a framework to facilitate the export of domestic wheat to Israel. In this context, calls for proposals will be issued to connect economic operators interested in cooperation.
