Leova–Bumbata crossing sees record traffic after expansion

The Leova-Bumbata border crossing has recorded over 17,400 crossings of people and about 6,000 vehicles in the last three weeks, as it has operated continuously, 24/7.
The figure is nearly 50 times higher than during the same period last year, when only 350 people crossed the same border point.
We would like to remind you that, starting August 15, 2025, crossing the border between the Republic of Moldova and Romania at the Leova-Bumbata crossing point, which was opened in 2023, will be permitted at any time. Until then, this border crossing can only be accessed from 08:00 to 20:00.
Additionally, starting August 25, coordinated control was established at the Galați-Giurgiulești crossing point, modeled after the Albita-Leușeni customs.
The authorities announced that by the end of this year, the necessary infrastructure will be in place to implement coordinated control at the third crossing point on the Moldovan-Romanian border: Sculeni-Sculeni.
