Authorities draft response scenarios for challenges in Transnistrian region and diaspora ahead of Sept 28 elections

The Russian Federation continues its aggressive actions against the Republic of Moldova through various means, including illegal funding, paid protests, disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, and religious propaganda. The goal of these actions is to seize power in the Republic of Moldova following the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28 and to obstruct our country's European integration. This statement was made by Government Spokesperson Daniel Vodă.
State institutions continuously monitor activities, document them, and respond promptly, assures Daniel Vodă.
He explained that government websites are "constantly attacked," but the "systems are monitored and protected through international investments and collaborations."
Chisinau is also anticipating potential challenges in the Transnistrian region and among the diaspora during the electoral process.
"Authorities are preparing response scenarios to ensure the protection of the democratic vote," declared Daniel Vodă after the Government's meeting on September 3.
He noted that during the campaign last fall, the Russian Federation contributed over 100 million euros to illicit actions aimed at influencing the results of the presidential elections and the referendum on European integration.
"Currently, illegal activities, including those involving cryptocurrencies or identity theft, are being identified and blocked. The police are enforcing sanctions for vote-selling, with fines ranging from 37,000 to 57,000 lei. Cases of electoral corruption are documented and forwarded to court," Vodă pointed out.
According to the Government Spokesperson, honest voting and critical thinking remain "the best defense against fraud, disinformation, and attempts at destabilization."
