Millions in grants for Moldovan businesses: investments and new jobs

Sixty-six companies in the Republic of Moldova received business development grants through programs managed by the Entrepreneurship Development Organisation (ODA). Authorities estimate that this support will generate investments of over 64 million lei in the national economy and create hundreds of new jobs. The funds will be used to purchase modern equipment and improve production processes.

Alexandru Cernoutan, based in Chisinau, owns a company that specializes in producing wooden packaging. He has received a grant of over 700,000 lei to modernize his pellet production line.
“We purchased the equipment to help us enter the foreign market. With this new equipment, we plan to increase our pellet production and export them to Romania,” says the entrepreneur.

Elena Ciubuc operates a bakery in Hâncești and has received a grant of almost half a million lei through the Small Producers Support Program. She plans to use the funds to purchase new production equipment.
"With the money from the program, I would like to buy a hearth oven specifically for baking sourdough bread, a shock cooler for making homemade dumplings, a vegetable chopper, and additional tables,” says Elena Ciubuc.

The total value of the grants awarded to 66 small and medium-sized enterprises is nearing 40 million lei. These funds have been provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the World Bank through ODA programs.
"Through the 66 companies that received grants, we will support nearly 500 additional jobs in the communities. We have enterprises from various fields and sectors, including the garment sector, electronics, advanced technologies, and manufacturing. A diversified economy is essential," said the Minister of Economic Development, Doina Nistor.

Since the start of the year, 537 companies have received grants totaling 233 million lei through support programs managed by ODA.
