ELECTIONS 2025 // Citizens offered money for votes urged to call CNA hotline

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who receive proposals for electoral corruption are encouraged to immediately call the hotline at (+373) 78 710 116, managed by the National Anticorruption Center (CNA).
The Hotline operates 24/7 for calls from both within the Republic of Moldova and abroad. It allows reporting via audio or video calls, as well as through SMS messages on Viber, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), this hotline was established to address numerous complaints about attempts to illegally influence voters financially, both domestically and internationally, during the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, 2025.
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including those living abroad, who have been approached regarding electoral corruption—such as being urged to join questionable organizations, work as observers or electoral officials in exchange for inflated and dubious payments, or contact from foreign numbers using the Republic of Moldova's dialing code—are encouraged to report these incidents by calling the Hotline at (+373) 78 710 116.
Reports can also be submitted by individuals who are aware of such cases of electoral corruption.
The CEC warns citizens to avoid sharing personal information with unknown or suspicious individuals. Any suspicious behavior should be reported immediately to the Hotline. The CEC is committed to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process and condemns any attempts to manipulate voters through questionable financial schemes, pressure, or misleading messages.
We remind you that, during the current week, law enforcement officers carried out over 100 searches throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova in a case targeting electoral corruption and illegal financing of parties.
As a result of the searches, nine people were detained, including the deputy mayor of Comrat and members of a political party.
At the same time, police officers and prosecutors seized money in national and foreign currency, phones, laptops, bank cards, documents, as well as lists of people paid to participate in protests.
The searches allegedly targeted activists of the "Heart of Moldova" Party, led by Irina Vlah and part of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart and Future of Moldova.
On Friday, September 5, the Interinstitutional Supervisory Council (CIS) decided to apply international sanctions imposed by Canada against Russia's interference activities in the Republic of Moldova. As a result of this decision, the funds and economic resources of Irina Vlah are to be blocked by the State Tax Service.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced, in this context, that the authorities in Chisinau will not tolerate "national security being transformed into a toy for Kremlin mouthpieces".
