Moldova-US relations 'on the rise,' says new ambassador Kulminski

The Moldovan ambassador to the US, Vlad Kulminski, says there is a "clear openness" in Washington towards his country and its people. Mr Kulminski was speaking to Teleradio-Moldova after he presented his credentials to US President Donald Trump.
He said bilateral relations were on an upward trajectory and that US authorities had a clear willingness to strengthen the partnership with Moldova.
"There is great openness toward the Republic of Moldova and its people, and this can be felt," he said.
He described the White House ceremony as "solemn and impressive," noting that it "represented respect for Moldova and for President Sandu."
Mr Kulminski said the relationship "has always been strategic" and was now "on the rise." He expressed hope that the two countries would "succeed in transforming our strategic dialogue into a strategic partnership".
"I had a short, very interesting discussion with President Trump, mostly about peace in the region," he said. "I conveyed to the President that for Moldova, peace and stability are our vital interests."
He added that the US leader had also emphasised the importance of peace and stability in Moldova, saying the country's stability was "very important for regional stability."
Mr Kulminski said he was focused on four main priorities: strengthening peace and security, developing the energy sector through US investment, attracting American companies to the Moldovan market and expanding trade and cultural exchanges.
"Our relationship, which is on the rise, will be even better," he said, adding that it had "always been a strategic relationship" and that he was sure that would continue.
Mr Kulminski was appointed Moldova's ambassador to the US in June 2025. He presented his credentials to President Trump on 6 September at a White House ceremony.
Previously, Mr Kulminski served as Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and was an adviser to President Maia Sandu. He has more than two decades of experience in public policy, administration and international development.
