In France, Prime Minister François Bayrou faced a confidence vote in the National Assembly on September 8, which he had requested. The vote resulted in the collapse of the government in Paris, as a majority of the deputies expressed a lack of confidence in the 74-year-old head of government, who had been in office since December 2024. Amid a budget dispute, 194 deputies voted in favor of confidence for Bayrou's cabinet, while 364 voted against it.

As a consequence of this loss, President Emmanuel Macron is now seeking his fifth prime minister in less than two years.
