Moldova’s new ambassador Oleg Serebrian presents credentials to Turkey’s Erdoğan

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Turkey, Oleg Serebrian, presented his credentials to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday, September 9. This official ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.
The Turkish President congratulated the Moldovan diplomat and wished him success in his work, expressing Turkey's openness to further strengthening and deepening bilateral relations for the benefit of both nations and their peoples. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey's consistent support for the Republic of Moldova and acknowledged the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
In response, Ambassador Oleg Serebrian highlighted the high level of political dialogue between Moldova and Turkey, underscored by mutual visits. He outlined the priorities of his mandate, which include deepening political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, attracting Turkish investments to Moldova, and promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
During the accreditation ceremony, Ambassador Serebrian was accompanied by his wife, Snejana Serebrian, the Embassy Counselor Vasile Chitii, and Vadim Sobol, the First Secretary of the diplomatic mission.
Oleg Serebrian was appointed as ambassador to Turkey on May 30, having previously served as Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration. At the time of his appointment, he stated, "Turkey is an important partner of the Republic of Moldova and a regional power with a significant role in the Black Sea area, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean."
Serebrian also emphasized Turkey's status as a major investor in Moldova, a popular destination for Moldovan tourists, and a vast market of over 84 million consumers. He noted the need for Moldova to increase its exports to this market and highlighted the importance of promoting Moldova in Turkey, as well as the intention to expand the network of honorary consulates.
Oleg Serebrian is a career diplomat with over 30 years of experience. He has previously served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to France and Germany and, since 2022, has held the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration. He holds a doctorate in political science and has studied in France, Great Britain, and Chișinău. For his diplomatic, academic, and literary contributions, he has received national and international awards, including the "Star of Romania."
