Clandestine cigarette factory near Leușeni seized, 160,000 cigarettes confiscated

Another illegal cigarette factory was uncovered by law enforcement near the Romanian border. A foreigner was arrested, according to a statement from the Customs Service.

The Customs Service officers, led by PCCOCS, dismantled an illegal cigarette factory located just 5 kilometers from the Leușeni–Albița customs post.

After conducting searches, law enforcement officers seized around 160,000 unfiltered cigarettes, shredded tobacco, manufacturing materials, computer equipment, and draft documents.

A 40-year-old man, a citizen of both the Russian Federation and Armenia, was detained during the operation. He is responsible for overseeing the production process.

Investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in the case. According to the cited source, these individuals benefit from the presumption of innocence as stated by the law.
