COVID-19 cases surge: Over1,000 in a week

The number of COVID-19 cases is on the rise again in the Republic of Moldova. According to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), 1,017 new cases of infection were reported in the last week, which is a 19% increase compared to the previous week. Notably, more than one-third of the cases, or 37%, were found among children aged under 14.
Health authorities are urging the public to stay vigilant and follow protective measures to minimize the risk of infection. These measures include maintaining social distance, avoiding crowded places, washing hands frequently, practicing respiratory hygiene, regularly ventilating enclosed spaces.
In schools and kindergartens, the ANSP recommends implementing a "morning filter" to temporarily exclude children displaying any symptoms from the community.
The institution also stresses the importance of monitoring health status and consulting a family doctor if any symptoms arise, even if they are mild.
Additionally, the ANSP emphasizes that vaccination against COVID-19, including booster doses, remains the most effective strategy for protecting against severe illness and death.
