Aid granted for road repairs in six villages hit by torrential rains
The government has allocated nearly three million lei to address the aftermath of the severe weather experienced in May and June. This funding will be distributed to six municipalities in the Râșcani, Hâncești, Strășeni, and Orhei districts. The heavy rainfall caused significant damage to public roads, and the mayors stated that without the support of the central authorities, they would not have been able to undertake the necessary repairs.
Part of the funds will be allocated to Buteni Town Hall in the Hânceşti district, where a road was completely destroyed. The cost of rehabilitation work exceeds 700,000 lei, while the village hall's annual budget for emergencies is only 200,000 lei.
Following the severe weather in May, local residents have repeatedly requested a complete repair of the road.
"I went to get bread because the shops are in the center of the village. When I reached that fence, it felt like I was going all the way, but I slipped. The locals brought stones, but the water washed them away."
"It was very problematic and muddy. Now it's still a disaster. We need to build another road immediately because it's being washed away. Many children pass through here."
"First of all, I'm going to give birth and it's impossible to get through here with a stroller. Just look at how difficult it is to go up the hill."
"At 82 years old, it's complicated for me to get here. The mayor promised us help for building the road."
The village mayor, Ion Harbuz, stated that without support from the central authorities, they would not have been able to repair the one-kilometer-long road. In addition to the funds allocated by the Government, Buteni Town Hall also contributed 50,000 lei. The rehabilitation work is expected to begin next week.
"We sent a request to the district exceptional situations commission because the Town Hall does not have the financial means, and the commission redirected our request to the national commission. To our joy, it was accepted," said mayor Ion Harbuz.
The Government has allocated nearly three million lei, with specific funding designated for several village councils. The village councils of Zahoreni and Seliște in the Orhei district will each receive 700,000 lei. Additionally, over 110,000 lei will be allocated to the village of Brăviceni, Orhei district. The village council of Singureni in the Sângerei district will receive half a million lei. Furthermore, more than 220,000 lei is planned for the rehabilitation of the road in the village of Dolna, Strășeni district.
