This year, the largest pumpkin in the Republic of Moldova weighs 615 kg and was grown over more than six months. At the “Bostaniada” Festival, it became a symbol of the event.

“I have a total of six pumpkins. The second largest weighs 550 kilograms, but this year was a bit more challenging, so I couldn’t beat last year’s record of 802 kilograms. I researched online to learn how to grow them and consulted with colleagues from the United States. Now, I know how to cultivate them better, and I hope to reach a weight of maybe a ton,” says Vasile Spînu, the owner of the largest pumpkin.

"Many of these pumpkins look incredible! I've never seen such a large quantity of pumpkins anywhere. It's really interesting for the children; they even enjoyed jumping on the slides and painting the pumpkins."

"I heard that this event is fascinating, and it truly is. We had a lovely time shopping, sitting at the tables, and listening to the concert—it was beautiful!"

"I came for a bit of relaxation, and I was excited by the impressive collection of pumpkins. It's definitely something interesting that we wanted to see."

The young ones also participated in various activities, including a pumpkin drawing contest. Meanwhile, the event featured music and celebrated traditional customs.

"Everyone feels great here, and we are happy to preserve this tradition and honor the pumpkin as an important agricultural product. Here's to a new edition in this beautiful autumn," says singer Stela Botez.

"The main goal of the festival is to promote rural tourism, showcase our traditional culture, highlight folk artisans, and feature traditional dishes, especially those made with pumpkin. We aim to encourage ourselves and our visitors to enjoy quality time in nature and appreciate the beauty of autumn," adds the event organizer, Diana Rencheci.
