The Republic of Moldova is creating new opportunities for local entrepreneurs and foreign investors, particularly those from Romania, who wish to start businesses. This initiative includes the launch of a new Stock Exchange. The memorandum establishing the Stock Exchange was signed during the Moldova Business Week 2025, the country’s largest economic forum, which began on Monday, September 15, in Chisinau.

Shareholders of the new Chisinau Stock Exchange include the Bucharest Stock Exchange and several companies from the Republic of Moldova, including commercial banks.

"Today, we are taking a decisive step for the financial market and for integration into regional financial markets. The Republic of Moldova is connecting to European financial markets," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean at the event, emphasizing the authorities' commitment "to all those who see Moldova's potential."

Deputy Prime Minister Doina Nistor, the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, noted that through this initiative, "we are opening the door for our companies to a new stage of growth and transparency."

"The new stock exchange is not just a financial institution; it is an instrument through which we will bring more trust, investments, and opportunities to citizens and entrepreneurs," the official emphasized.

The Republic of Moldova currently has two stock exchanges. The Moldovan Stock Exchange has never been authorized or operational, while the Chisinau Stock Exchange's license has reportedly expired.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's intention to invest in the new stock exchange in Chisinau as a participating shareholder was announced at the end of last year.

At that time, the authorities mentioned that one of the advantages of the stock exchange is that citizens will be able to invest directly in financial instruments, which would form the basis of private pension and insurance funds. Additionally, companies will gain easier access to Romanian and international capital through advanced trading technologies.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova is hosting the tenth edition of Moldova Business Week from September 15 to 19. The program includes activities in ten key regions and brings together over 1,500 participants from more than 40 countries, including foreign investors, local entrepreneurs, high-ranking officials, and top economic experts.
