The parliamentary elections will significantly influence the country's future, as citizens will decide whether the Republic of Moldova continues its journey toward European integration with over 400 million fellow European citizens, or it will halt this progress. This statement was made by MEP Siegfried Mureșan during the "La 360 de grade" show on Radio Moldova.

"Is our path toward European integration similar to Poland, which absorbs EU funds, generates jobs, and strengthens itself, or is it more like Belarus? These are the choices facing our neighboring states: one is part of the European Union while the other is not. To achieve our goals, broad societal support is essential, and it is evident. Despite aggressive interference from the Russian Federation, the majority of people have chosen European integration," said Siegfried Mureșan.

The MEP highlighted the Russian Federation's attempts to meddle in the electoral campaign, including illegal financing and propaganda efforts. He explained that disinformation serves four main purposes: spreading false information about the European Union, attacking European institutions, discrediting pro-European politicians in our country, and undermining state institutions.

"The attempts by the Russian Federation to interfere are clear, and specific vote-buying schemes from the last campaign are well-documented. We must now see if our authorities are strong enough to thwart these efforts,” the MEP emphasized.

Mureșan emphasised that European integration should be a national objective, providing higher standards of protection for workers, the environment, and consumers, while also promoting economic and social development.
