Cyber security agency warns of phishing attacks on WhatsApp

Moldova’s Cyber Security Agency (ASC) has issued a warning over "phishing" messages targeting users on WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram.

The messages are said to include personalised greetings, as well as documents and links that appear to be legitimate.

Attackers are reportedly trying to trick people into clicking on the links to gain control of their personal information and devices.

The public is being advised not to click on links from suspicious messages. The advice also includes a warning not to input personal details, such as phone numbers or bank details, on websites accessed via the links.

The public is also being told to verify the source of the message, as the sender's name could be real while the message is malicious. The agency suggests contacting the sender on a separate platform, or by phone, to confirm its authenticity.
