The European Parliament to hold a debate next week on the situation in Moldova
The political groups in the European Parliament agreed to include a debate on the situation in the Republic of Moldova and the challenges the Moldovan authorities have to deal with in this period on the agenda of next week's plenary session. The announcement came from MEP Siegfried Mureșan.
The debate will be followed by a resolution to be adopted, most likely at the April plenary session.
"Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine a year ago, we have said that the Republic of Moldova is as important as Ukraine for the security of Romania and the European Union (EU), which is why we need to get involved so that the EU can help the Republic of Moldova as much as possible to overcome the current challenges, to take new measures for the benefit of the people and to be ready for the start of EU accession negotiations," said Muresan.
The official also said that next week's debate would be a good opportunity for the European Parliament to reiterate its support for Moldova's European integration.
