Seventeen northern households will be rehabilitated to cut energy losses

More families in northern Moldova will benefit from warmer and more energy-efficient homes, thanks to a program funded by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the European Union and the Government of Germany, which provides for investments of over four million lei.

These are 17 families from the districts of Falesti, Floresti, Glodeni, Râșcani and Sângerei, who will make their homes more efficient through the Fund for Energy Efficiency in the Residential Sector of Moldova (FEERM), managed by the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED).

4.27 million lei will be allocated for the rehabilitation of households, it was announced at a meeting with the beneficiaries of the program. Half of the costs will be covered by European funds, and 45% by the Energy Vulnerability Fund. At the same time, the beneficiaries will contribute 5% of the value of the projects.

*"Through this support, we help families have warmer and safer homes, but also reduce energy costs. It is a direct investment in the quality of people's lives and in the future of our communities," said Ion Muntean, director of the CNED.

Before the launch of the works, a detailed energy audit was carried out for each house, establishing personalized intervention solutions. Among the planned modernizations are thermal insulation of walls and foundations, roof repair, replacement of doors and windows, modernization of heating systems and installation of solid biofuel boilers.

The financial support for these works is part of an initiative to increase the energy efficiency of individual homes in rural areas with an extremely high degree of energy vulnerability. In total, with the support of the European Union, 180 vulnerable households in rural areas of the country will be renovated.

The FEERM program is developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with the financial support of the European Union and implemented by the CNED and the Ministry of Energy. The initiative is part of the “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies for Moldova” (E4M) project, carried out by GIZ with the support of the German Government and co-financed by the European Union, Norway and Denmark.
