Road freight carriers from the Republic of Moldova will continue to be permitted to operate within EU member states. The agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova regarding the liberalization of road freight transport was extended until March 31, 2027.

The document was signed on Friday, September 19, at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development by Mircea Păscăluță, the Secretary of State for Transport, and Kristian Schmidt, the Director for Land Transport of the European Commission.

“Thanks to this agreement, transport operators from the Republic of Moldova will be able to move freely within the European Union territory, both for bilateral transport and transit. This will strengthen trade, enhance economic ties, and promote the country's integration into the European market,” stated Mircea Păscăluță.

The document supports the growth of exports and imports between the Republic of Moldova and EU Member States, while ensuring access to a secure and stable European trade market.

Additionally, this agreement enhances the Republic of Moldova's role as a partner to Ukraine in the reconstruction process, simplifying and streamlining logistics chains between Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and the European Union.

The agreement on the liberalization of road freight transport between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova was initially signed on December 16, 2022.
