Moldova's capital hosts Festival of Ethnicities

A Festival of Ethnicities was held in the capital of Moldova, Chișinău, on Sunday, September 21.

The event, held under the banner of "Unity in Diversity," began with a parade of traditional ethnic costumes along the city's main boulevard, Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt.

From 11:00 AM, visitors to the "Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt" Public Garden explored 20 themed areas, showcasing authentic traditions, cuisine, and crafts.

Visitors also enjoyed folk music and dance performances, with interactive culinary workshops and activities for children also on offer. The show, "My Love is Moldova," featured some 20 artistic groups from across the country.

The event was attended by senior government officials and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Chișinău, in a move organisers said demonstrated the value and strength of cultural diversity.

The festival was organised by the Agency for Interethnic Relations and Chișinău City Hall, in partnership with the Coordinating Council of Ethno-Cultural Organisations. Similar events also took place concurrently in other districts. The city of Taraclia was also at the heart of cultural diversity festivities this weekend.
