VIDEO // New EU ambassador in Chișinău: “Moldova will join the EU”

The new European Union ambassador to Chisinau, Iwona Piórko, stated that the Republic of Moldova will join the European Union. This was her first public message to Moldovan citizens since taking office. She assured that Brussels will support Moldova throughout its European integration process.
“With determination and unity, the Republic of Moldova will become part of the European Union, and we are here to support you. Together, in the European Union,” stated Iwona Piórko in a video posted on the Facebook page of the EU Delegation in Chisinau.
The diplomat expressed that in the two weeks since her arrival in Chisinau, she has felt “the warmth of the people and the richness of the culture,” highlighting that her visit comes at a pivotal moment in the shared history of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.
“I have arrived at a crucial time in our common history, and the European Union stands with you. I am here to listen and to build a trusting relationship. I will visit every corner of the country and every region to learn how to better assist your communities,” the ambassador promised.
Originally from Poland, Iwona Piórko noted that her country’s experience serves as a testament to the transformations brought about by European support, which have a positive impact on the daily lives of citizens.
We remind you that Polish diplomat Iwona Piórko, who brings over twenty years of experience in European Union institutions, has succeeded Jānis Mažeiks, whose mandate in Chișinău ended this August.
