CEC denies new ballot fraud claims

The Central Electoral Commission denounced a new online hoax claiming that voters who chose postal voting received ballots with some electoral competitors missing.
"This information is entirely false and aims to undermine citizens' trust in the electoral process. The model and text of the ballot for voting by correspondence in the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, 2025, were approved by the CEC in decision no. 3940 on September 7. This ballot includes the names of all 23 electoral competitors registered by the CEC," reads a press release from the CEC.
The electoral authority clarifies that the 2,472 ballots designated for mail-in voting were printed under conditions of full transparency and in compliance with legal provisions, strictly following the characteristics set by the Commission's decision.
"Any information contrary to this is intended to mislead voters," the source emphasizes.
The CEC urges citizens to seek information only from official and credible sources and calls on media institutions to refrain from spreading falsehoods that could disrupt the smooth conduct of the elections and undermine public trust.
On Tuesday, September 23, the authorities in Chisinau launched their fourth anti-disinformation campaign.
Government representatives had previously issued strong denials regarding recent claims made by the Russian Federation's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). The SVR suggested that the European Union and NATO were preparing for the "occupation of Moldova."
Additionally, the Ministry of Education issued a public warning about a false document that was allegedly signed by one of its employees. This document was intended to be sent to managers of educational institutions with the aim of disrupting school and university operations.
Furthermore, the Audiovisual Council informed citizens that no institution in the Republic of Moldova has prohibited the broadcasting of the Soviet-made feature film “Ivan Vasilievich changes his profession” (“Иван Васильевич меняет профессию”), countering false claims by the Russian press.
