Iași raids target leader Victoria Furtună of “Moldova Mare” Party linked to convicted Shor

Police officers from the Iași County Police Inspectorate conducted a series of searches targeting individuals from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, or Russia who reside in Romania. According to judicial sources, one of the individuals targeted is Victoria Furtună, a former prosecutor and candidate in the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova. She is affiliated with fugitive oligarch Ilan Șor and is known for her support of pro-Russian sentiments, as reported by Stiripesurse.ro.
The news site writes, referring to judicial sources, that Victoria Furtună allegedly turned to exponents of the underworld from the Moldovan area, to fictitiously establish her domicile in Romania.
She declared her domicile at a home in the municipality of Iași, owned by the spouses Mirela and Vasile Bogdan, members of the Corduneni clan.
According to the cited source, "the building was used by them to obtain substantial income, making it available, for a fee, to over 10,000 Moldovan citizens, who fictitiously declared their domicile here to get Romanian identity documents".
Official press release of the Iași Police Inspectorate
"On September 23, 2019, police officers from the Iași County Police Inspectorate acted within the Iași County, to ensure compliance with the legality in the field of settlement in Romania of Romanian citizens originating from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as from the Russian Federation and other states, at the locations of interest", the official press release of the Iași Police Inspectorate states.
During the action, 23 addresses were checked and 30 people were legitimized.
"The legislation on domicile and residence has recently been subject to several amendments and additions, which aimed both at an adaptation process in accordance with the principles of debureaucratization and administrative simplification, as well as at reducing some phenomena that have developed and created effects in society", the press release states.
The police explained that the most recent amendments concern:
The situation of persons who no longer actually live at their domicile or residence address (Government Decree no. 295 of 10.03.2021 for the approval of the Methodological Norms for the uniform application of the provisions of O.U.G. 97/2005 regarding the records, domicile, residence and identity documents of Romanian citizens).
Elimination of the possibility of registering in the identity document a domicile address where more than 10 people appear in the RNEP (Law no. 162 of 31.05.2023 for the modification and completion of O.U.G. 97/2005 regarding the records, domicile, residence and identity documents of Romanian citizens).
"Thus, the police carried out checks based on the information provided by the registration structures of persons, in 23 locations in the municipality of Iași, as well as in Iași county, in a context in which the circumstances in which the arrest was carried out were also analyzed. At the same time, the purpose of the action was to ensure compliance with the legality in the field of settlement in Romania of Romanian citizens originating from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, but also from the Russian Federation and other states, from a police point of view", reads the press release issued by the Iași IPJ.
We mention that, in the past few days, the press anticipated that the president of the "Moldova Mare" Party, Victoria Furtună, risks being left without Romanian citizenship, after representatives of the National Authority for Citizenship in Romania started the procedure for analyzing her file.
Victoria Furtună addressed the rumors about her Romanian citizenship withdrawal in a post on social media.
"This is false. I want to declare openly and firmly that no one has taken anything from me. This information is a fabricated lie created in the halls of power to intimidate and discredit me," Furtună stated on Telegram.
