Trump: Ukraine can win back territory with EU and NATO support

President Donald Trump said that Ukraine could have a real chance of regaining its entire territory if it receives military and financial support from the European Union and Nato.

Mr. Trump noted that the prolonged conflict has weakened Russia, both militarily and economically, and the current situation could be favourable for Kyiv.

"I believe Ukraine, with the support of the European Union and Nato, is in a position to fight and win back all of its original territory. Russia has been fighting for three and a half years in a conflict that a real military force would have won in a week," he said, adding that the situation "makes Russia look like a paper tiger."

Mr. Trump also said that sanctions and the wartime economy are already affecting the Russian population, citing difficulties with fuel supplies and immense pressure on the state budget. In his opinion, these weaknesses can be leveraged by Ukraine to consolidate its resistance and achieve its goal of restoring the 2022 borders.

Mr. Trump specified that the US would continue to supply weapons through Nato and that "the alliance will decide how to use them." At the same time, he conveyed that he desires "a better future for both countries," while also clarifying that success depends on the balance between international pressure on Russia and Ukraine's determination.

The statements come in the context of meetings at the UN, where the conflict's prospects are being discussed and calls are being made to increase international support for Kyiv.
