CEC changes polling sites for the Nistru left-bank voters, sparking security concerns

The addresses of several polling stations for citizens eligible to vote in areas on the left bank of the Nistru have been altered. This decision was made on September 25 by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) in response to a notification from the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP), which alerted them to significant security risks, including potential bomb threats and provocations on voting day.
In such situations, the intervention of specialized teams would be complex, since their movement to the Security Zone can only be carried out with the approval of the Joint Control Commission, and obtaining it is practically impossible in a short period of time. However, a possible suspension of the electoral process on election day cannot exceed two hours, the CEC argued in its decision.
The five relocated polling stations:
polling stations no. 37/3 and 37/4 from the village of Varnița, Anenii Noi district - in the city of Anenii Noi, Anenii Noi district;
polling station no. 37/6 from the village of Hagimus, Căușeni district - in the city of Căușeni, Căușeni district;
polling station no. 37/7 from the commune of Cocieri, Dubăsari district - in the municipality of Chişinău;
polling station no. 37/8 from Doroţcaia village, Dubăsari district - in Chisinau municipality.
At the same time, to effectively manage possible risks related to bomb alerts or other provocations or incidents, the Commission found the need to establish in advance the reserve locations for the remaining polling stations organized for voters from the left bank of the Nistru:
for polling station no. 37/2 from the village of Gura Bâcului, Anenii Noi district - in the commune of Calfa, Anenii Noi;
for the polling station no. 37/5 from the village of Copanca, Căușeni district - in village Chircăiești, Căușeni district;
for the polling station no. 37/9 from the village of Sănătăuca, Florești district - in village Cunicea, Florești district;
for the polling stations no. 37/10 and 37/11 from the town of Rezina, Rezina district - in village Cinișeți, Rezina district;
for the polling station no. 37/12 from the commune of Răscăieți, Ștefan Vodă district - in the town Ștefan Vodă, Ștefan Vodă district.
We remind you that on Sunday, September 28, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are called to the polls to elect a new Parliament.
12 polling stations will be opened for voters on the left bank of the Nistru, according to CEC calculations based on the ratio between data from the State Register of Voters and the dynamics of voter participation in the eastern districts in the last three elections.
