Two sports fields, supported by the European Union, were inaugurated in Cimișlia. Modern facilities were created for practicing tennis, basketball, and volleyball. Coaches believe this will encourage young people to engage in outdoor sports.

Few localities in the country can boast a modern tennis court, but now one exists in the city of Cimişlia.

"I started playing tennis three months ago, and I really enjoy it."

"Before we had a dedicated court, we practised at a stadium. Now, we finally have a specific place to enjoy this wonderful game."

"We want to open a tennis section. We already have a basketball coach on the court and a volleyball program, and we hope to attract more children. Until now, Cimişlia has mostly offered freestyle wrestling and football," says coach Leonid Comerzan.

Ion Duca has been playing tennis for 16 years. Until now, he had to travel to Chișinău for his training.

"This facility should have been established in Cimișlia; I have been waiting for it for a long time. I discovered my passion for tennis, and it's fantastic that this opportunity is now available for children, ensuring a brighter future. Travelling to Chișinău for training has been complicated," says the athlete.

All residents of Cimişlia will have access to the sports fields. It is also important that the fields have been adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.

"Previously, this was a completely useless area, there was grass growing that we were constantly mowing. Now, they will have the opportunity to train outdoors", mentions the mayor of Cimişlia, Sergiu Andronachi.

The construction of the two sports fields cost 5.4 million lei. The European Union provided 3.8 million, and the Cimişlia City Hall - 1.6 million lei.
