CEC on the “day of silence”: Election campaigning is prohibited before and on election day

The parliamentary election campaign has ended. Saturday, September 27, is the “day of silence,” during which campaigning is prohibited, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informs.
According to the Electoral Code, campaigning is strictly prohibited on election day and the day before. During this period, candidates are also not allowed to appear on television or radio programs. The CEC notes that this restriction does not apply to information already posted online or on previously displayed posters.
Additionally, electoral competitors cannot make transfers to or from accounts labeled “Electoral Fund.”
Campaigning on election day and the preceding day constitutes an administrative offense and is punishable by law. Individuals face fines ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 lei, while legal entities face fines between 5,000 and 7,500 lei.
