The number of cases of respiratory infections in Chisinau is increasing. Children are the most affected, announced the head of the Medical and Social Assistance Directorate, Boris Gîlca, during the City Hall meeting. According to him, municipal hospitals have been supplied with beds.

"Last week was a critical situation, when all the municipal hospitals were overcrowded, we had no free places and we supplemented them with additional beds at the Municipal Children's Hospital No. 1, the "Valentin Ignatenco" Children's Hospital, at Hospital for Infectious Diseases for Children. We have a lot of children with respiratory infections, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, including respiratory insufficiency", said Boris Gîlcă. Specialists urge parents to go to the doctor immediately at the first symptoms to avoid complications. At the same time, last week, over 140 new cases of infection with COVID-19 were registered.
